Acceptances for the Great Autumn meeting are due on Monday. The safety number at the six-furlong post at Riverton is 26. All Night has again developed leg trouble and will require a spell. Botilder Dam won at Waikouaiti with 8.11, and should be able to speed up with 8.5 at Waimate. Bali, who is engaged at Waimate, has not been seen out since he ran at Timaru in October of last season. The following scratchings have been announced for the Manawatu races:—King George Handicap: Longsword. Kairanga Hurdles: Star Peer. Adderstone Handicap: Blanket. x t Ration won twice at the West Coast meetings. In his last three starts Ration scored a second, a win, and a second. A smart beginner is assisted by the turning track at Waimate, and this should help Listen In in ' the President’s HanSouthlander Fuzzy Wuzzy got into a bad position early in his race at Trentham. and was' soon too far back to have a chance. > Sumra will' probably be improved by her race at Oamaru, where she began well and won--by staying on. Riding Home was fancied for her engagement at Trentham, but after being in a handy position at the home turn she failed to improve. Olga’s Choice gave Divorced 61b and a beating at Oamaru. At Waimate the margin is 81b, and he should beat Divorced again over the shorter course. Starting times to-day are as follows .- Manawatu (single pool): 12, 12.40, 1.27, 2.15, 2.55, 3.35, 4.15, 5 p.m. Bay of Plenty (win-and-place): 11.47, 12.37, 1.22, 2.7, 2.57, 342 423 512 'Night Pal‘carried 10.12 into third place’ in the High-weight Handicap at Oamaru, and with 451 b less in the Waimate Cup should help to make an interesting race. Olga’s Choice won at Oamaru by staying on at the end of a mile and aquarter in 2min 9 3-ssec under 8.4. At Waimate he has 9.4, which may be reduced by an allowance. Honest Sal was running on at the finish of the Novice Handicap, and she may be hard to beat under 7.13, with a possible drop by an allowance. , , .. . Paladeo has been made favourite for the Studholme High-weight Handicap. The best he has done this' season in seven starts is a third to Pocket Flash and Jack o’ Lantern in’the Warrington Hurdles at Wingatui. Last season Paladeo won three races, one on the flat and two over Pallid, who is top weight in Ihe Waitangi Handicap at Waimate, won at his last start. He was out of form last season, but in 1942 beat a field of over 20 in heavy going at Trentham. Pallid has stood up to four races this season and when well can muster a good turn of P The conditions of the Great Autumn Handicap provide Jhat the winner of any race or races of the of £3OO to me winner may be handicapped provided that the winner of the Great. Dash o’ Dink ran seven times last season and in his last start finished third to Eulogist and Bill Gundi over six furlongs at Ash burton. Wise Girl has won four times tins season and ran Uvo seconds and two muds in her last 11 starts. She was unp aced in her first six star is owing to a tendency to dwell at Hi? start. In her last win 'Vise Girl won with 7.0 in lnnn 25sec ovei seven furlongs at Invercargill and put up a record for Otago and southland. In her last s’art Wise Girl. 7.3] finished third to Immediate, 7.8 and Golden Souvenir, 3.6, m the Kinloch Handicap at Hiccarton, won in lmin 25 2-ssec. W1.. 0 Girl was a little over two lengths away and this form should give her a chance at Waimate. She is up by 131 b, however, and looks a bit close to Sing Sing at a difference of 51b.
