SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

In future New Zealand swimming championships an independent justice of the peace will draw the heats and draw and settle the stations. This was decided by the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association at its meeting last week, when a remit to that effect was received ' from the Auckland Centre. It was also agreed that draws should be made by a committee of two senior officers of the centre conducting the championships, with the justice as an independent member. Supporting the remit, Mr J. R. Miller said that an independent justice of the peace would give protection both to competitors and the controlling centre.
