The first race at Gore will start at 12.30 p.m. The Defaulter—Disdain gelding has been named Detain. Fair Trial has come into favour for the President's Handicap to be run at Gore. Whackie is reported to be in good racing shape for his engagements at Trentham.
Tlie two-year-old Majestic haa been gal. loping well since winning the Hastings Stakes.
Hearth holds two engagement* at Gore, and at her best would be dangerous in her selected race.
Sir Bradbury and Salmi were responsible for a good gallop over five furlongs at Awapuni on Tuesday. Kaitoa and Alethea were reaponsible for the best six furlongs put up at Awapuni on Tuesday. Official attention is drawn to rule 156, which provides that all changes of ownership must be notified within 14 days. Failure to notify may lead to disqualification or a fine. Sal’s Pal and Good Cast are both in the same stable, and are engaged in the President’s Handicap at Gore. Sal’s Pal has much better form than his stablemate. In the Vauxhall Hack Handicap at Wingatui Lance Wing was giving Good Cast 151 b, and as they meet at Gore on even terms the Irish Lancer gelding should be able to account for Good Cast. ' If Pensacola fails in the Wellington Guineas it will not be on the score of breeding. He was got by Golden Eagle from Amyril, by Psychology—Amyrin, by Bezonian—Amyris, by Gold Reef—Balm, by Dunlop—Frou Frou. Golden Eagle was got by Fairway—Golden Silence, by Swynford—Molly Desmond, by Desmond from Pretty Polly, one of the most famous mares ever raced in England.
