FOURTH! DAY OF FESTIVAL SATURDAY’S RESULTS The forty-third annual festival of the Dunedin Competitions Society was continued on Saturday when, after the preliminary stages in a number of sections had been conducted in the morning and afternoon at three halls, the fin-®} 8 were held before a packed house in His Majesty's Theatre. There were also good attendances at the Concert Chamber, Victoria Hall, and His Majesty 8 Theatre for the day sessions. The judges were: Instrumental music, Mr G. Short (Wellington): vocal music, Mr V. Peters (Christchurch): elocution, Mr W. J. Mountjoy (Wellington); fancy dancing. Miss M. Trott (Greymouth). The main attraction at the evening session was the ladies’ choir contest, in which the Invercargill Orpheus Ladies, the Oamaru Orpheus Ladies, and the Dunedin Harmonists' Choirs took part. The judge, Mr Peters, was particularly impressed with the quality of the winner, the Oamaru Choir. In all three of its selections, he said, this choir had sung in a delightfully cultured manner, and it was difficult to find a flaw in its presentation. The Invercargill Choir, which gained second place, sang brighter and more buoyant numbers, and it also set a very high standard. The Harmonists Choir Mr Peters said, did not appear to settle down, but it improved with each number, its last being a fine presenta--1:1 The secretary, Mr E. S. Wilson, announced on Saturday that the instrumental competition had been inadvertently set down in the programme for to-mor-row's session in Victoria Hall. This competition, he said, would be held in the Concert Chamber at noon to-morrow. The following are the results of the competitions in whch the judging was completed on Saturday:— VOCAL MUSIC

TO-DAY’S PROGRAMME
Features of to-night’s programme at His Majesty’s Theatre will be an entertainment by Mrs Muriel Herbert’s pupils, In a Persian Garden,” and items by Anita Oliver’s Sunbeams. The programme will also include piano solos and duets, ladies vocal scholarship numbers, tap dancing, boys’ elocution scholarship numbers, character recitals, humorous recitations, and vocal solos for girls. During the day sessions will be held at the Victoria Hall, the Concert Chamber, and His Majesty s. The box plan for the remainder of the season.
