REMOVAL OF ANOMALIES PROPOSAL FOR CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Aug. 26. The following statement has been issued by the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Association:— “Reporting back to the conference after interviewing the Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, the deputation from the Secondary Schools’ Association stated that the Prime Minister had requested the association to regard the scale of salaries known as the 1939 scale as a temporary measure. He. emphasised the necessity for stabilisation at the moment, but asked the association to consider, together with the Technical Schools’ Association, the acceptance of a consultative committee to work on a plan for the recruitment of teachers, conditions of employment, and salaries, the plan to be prepared so that immediately stabilisation is lifted it may be submitted to the Government for consideration. , • • ~ . “ The Prime Minister stated that there were anomalies in the 1939 scale, and invited the Secondary Schools’ Association to consult with the Education Department and Stabilisation Commission in order that these may be removed.” . , , .. The executive appointed its secretary to consult with the Education Department and decided to ask for further details concerning the consultative committee which has been proposed.
