PRISONERS IN ITALY

176 STILL UNTRACED (PA.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office advises that of the 3538 New Zealand prisoners known to be in Italian camps at the time of the capitulation 3362 have been accounted for, as follows: — Transferred to German camps, 2997: safe with the Allies, 263: safe in Switzerland, 102. The majority of those yet to be accounted for were at PG 107 prior to the capitulation of Italy, but there are still $. number outstanding from PG 57 PG 106, PG 120, and other camps. The Inquiry Office headquarters has made a- special request for copies of recent letters from German prisoner-of-war camps and particularly work detachment No. 1&0, G/W, of Stalag XVIII A.
