FAT SFJEEP PRICES RISE

(Special) OAMARU, Jan. 25. There was a rise of about 2s per head for fat sheep at the Waiareka sale today. Fat cattle and pigs brought prices on a par with those ruling last week. There were medium yardings of fat cattle and fat sheep and small yardings of store sheep, store cattle, and pigs. Prime ox beef can be quoted at £2 10s to £2 12s 6d per 1001 b; prime heifer, £2 to £2 2s 6d; best cows, £1 10s; aged and inferior, £l. Fat Cattle.—Best steers, £l2 15s to £l4 10s; light, down to £lO 17s 6d; best heifers, £lO to £l2 ss; light, £7 10s to £8 10s; best cows, , £8 to £l2 12s 6d; light, £5 5s to £6 15s. Fat Sheep.—Best wethers, 29s 6d to 33s 6d; light, 24s to 27s 6d; best ewes, 19s 6d to 21s 3d; light, 16s to 17s 6d. Store Cattle.—A pen of small calves. 295; a pen'of one-year mixed sex, £4 ss; a pen of 18-months’ heifers, £5 10s. Store Sheep.—Two-tooth wethers, 23s to 23s 3d; a pen of four, six, and eight-tooth wethers, 19s 3d; a pen of two-tooth ewes, 33s 9d.

Dairy Cows.—One cow, coming to second calf, £6 15s.

Pigs.—Stores, 26s to 31s; slips, 20s to 225; best wethers, 12s to 15s 6d; small, 7s to 11s 6d.
