WOMEN WAR WORKERS

United Nations women are proving their worth in the war work they are doing. In Britain, which is now the most productive nation in the world per capita, 90 per cent, of all single women 18 to 40 years of age, and one out of every four wives, are engaged in paid full-time essential war work. In addition. 600,000 housewives have been assigned to part-, time war work. All British women up to 48 years of age are required to register for essential work. In addition to the 80,000 women working on the land and the thousands serving with the army, navy, and air force in England and abroad, women make up 35 per cent, of all people engaged in engineering and allied industries.
