REGENT THEATRE
" MRS MINIVER ” " Mrs Miniver,” which is still drawing capacity houses at the Regent Theatre, is not a war film about soldiers In uniform, but a film about people in an unpretentious English village whose tranquil mode of living is disturbed by the war. Then suddenly comes the Battle of Britain and bombs rain down in devastating fury on the village. Considerable attention has been paid to the human details in the production—the tension over the rivalrv of the flower show competitions, the winding of the grandfather clock, the wordless understanding between husband and wife, and the panic of Mrs Miniver when she discovers a German airman crouching in her garden. Greer Garson gives a verv fine performance as Mrs Miniver, while Walter Pidgeon is shrewd and pleasant as her husband. Teresa Wright and Richard Ney provide the romantic interest as the young couple, whose brief period of married happiness is terminated by sudden tragedy. Box plans are at the theatre and the D.I.C.
