Sir,—When criticism of the high cost of living gets a little too hot for some of the members of the Government they invariably have recourse to the price of butter during the last war. But why do they not mention also the price of fruit,' vegetables, fish, tea, tinned goods, stockings, gloves, suits, costumes, coats, and other wearing apparel during the same period? I wonder why. No doubt they have their reasons!—l am, etc., o New Zealander.
