SERGEANT C. C. BROWNLEE

Advice has been 'received that Sergeant Colin Crawford Brownlee, only son of Mr and Mrs G. Brownlee, of Sawyers’ Bay, was killed in action on January 20. Sergeant Brownlee, who was 23 years of age, left New Zealand two years ago as a gunner and wireless operator. News of his death was received with regret throughout the district where he had lived. Sergeant Brownlee received his education at the Sawyers’ Bay School and the Otago Boys' High School; and subsequently followed his father’s occupation as a nurseryman. Sergeant Brownlee was interested in sporting activities, particularly cricket and football, and was also a member of the Port Chalmers Harmonica Band.
