FLEET AIR ARM

NOW MUCH BETTER EQUIPPED (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 3. Replying to a question in the House of Commons, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr A. V. Alexander, said that the Fleet Air Arm was now much better equipped than when he commented on the use of old aircraft. Armaments had been restricted by the demands of other services, but the regular delivery of production models had now started. This included torpedo bombers, but there remained certain tasks for which the Swordfish would still be valuable. Questioned regarding the destruction of U-boats, Mr Alexander said the Admiralty had estimates of the enemy’s building capacity and operational strength, but it. was not possible to 'make the information public.
