SUPPLIES FOR RUSSIA

EFFECTIVE ALLIED ASSISTANCE (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 3. Replying to a suggestion in the House of Lords that supplies to Russia should be increased, Lord Beaverbrook said that in two and a-half months the Russians had taken from the Germans more than all they had received from Britain and the United States in the last 20 months.

Replying for the Government, the Minister of Works, Lord Portal, said that supplies to Russia were still going forward, but the demands of the North African campaign had necessarily decreased. the volume of supplies available for the Soviet. That was fully understood by the Soviet Government. Britain and the United States were d<* teimined to give effective assistance to Russia and would do their utmost to increase the flow of supplies.
