GERMAN RADIO NETWORK

EVIDENCE OF SERIOUS DISTURBANCE (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 3. A. curious hitch occurred in a promised broadcast by Dr Goebbels to the workers in a tank factory last night. The German radio announced the speech, after which the announcer said that they were switching to the factory. Another announcer described the workers’ arrival, and then the radio broke in with march, music. Dr Goebbels did not speak, and no explanation was given. Evidence is growing that something is seriously disturbing the German radio network. Germany’s principal station, the Deutschlandsender, gave the cue to the other stations shortly after Dr Goebbels’s fiasco by suddenly cancelling its regular programme and substituting music. The station finally faded out, and then at 7.15 p.m. the Berlin, Leipzig, Koenigsberg, Stuttgart and Luxemburg stations announced that they were closing for the night.
