SOLDIERS’ PARCELS
POST OFFICE FACILITIES NO SUGGESTION OF CURTAILMENT Persistent rumours that no more parcels would be sent to members of the N.Z.E.F. serving in the Middle East forces were denied by the chief postmaster at Dunedin, Mr H. Miller, in conversation with a Daily Times reporter yesterday. “ There has been no alteration to the present arrangement, nor is there any intention of changing the facilities offered to those who wish to send parcels to soldiers abroad,” Mr Miller said. “Rumours have been current in Dunedin and in country districts that there is to be a curtailment of the facilities, but these rumours are absolutely false, and no grounds have been given for their circulation,” Mr Miller said. “ Postal officials have been inundated with inquiries, and many people have become anxious as a result of these unfounded rumours. Some have actually gone so far as to say that there have been cases where parcels have not been accepted at post offices. “ I wish to make it clear that the postal facilities for friends and relatives of men serving in the Middle East are the same as previously.” Mr Miller added. “The Post Office is accepting and forwarding parcels in the normal manner, and we are glad to be able to assist tlie public in every way for the benefit of soldiers abroad.”
