ATTITUDE OF BURMESE
GREAT MAJORITY LOYAL RUGBY. July 14.
Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith (former Governor of Burma), speaking in London, insisted that the great majority of the Burmese were loyal, and although the British had been defeated in the recent campaign they were going back to Burma. “ Japan has won the first round of this fight,” he said. “We are getting ready to climb back into the ring. We think we can win this second round. Burma is of terrific importance if we are going to keep China supplied with arms and ammunition. Burma should be a great operational base for attack against the Japanese.”
