JAPANESE FORCED BACK CHUNGKING. July 14.

The Chinese counter-offensive in Kiangsi province pushed Ihe Japanese hack in Linchwan. The success of the Chinese counteroffensive temporarily thwarted a Japanese plan to push to the west to Nanchang, The Central News reported that Chinese guerrillas, who have been active throughout the summer on Hainan Island, are operating from the mountains against shore-based Japanese positions. An aerial bombardment failed to drive out the guerrillas.
