Walkouaiti Branch. —At the July meeting of the committee of the W.W.S.A., presided over by Mrs Herbert, considerable correspondence was read from headquarters respecting women's homo service in tile army. It' was decided to solicit enrolments from the district. The various branches of the work showed steady progress. Mrs J. O’Connell was appointed official representative on the Committee for First Aid and Home Nursing, Miss Fleet being similarly appointed to act on behalf of the Plunket Aids. Mrs Toomey reported that the Beach street section of the canteen group had prepared meals for the Home Guard on a recent all-day parade. The group had also been asked to assist with the supper at the Home Guard annual dance. A special meeting of the first aid and home nursing groups was held on July 7. A fine' demonstration of papier mache work was given by Mrs A. Jenkins. It was decided to hold monthly afternoon and evening classes, the first class to be held this afternoon in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Residents of the district are asked to assist the committee by leaving waste paper and waste at thfc depot (Mr Bray’s shop). The keys can be obtained from Mrs J. W. Holland.
