A maximum basic charge of 5s for a meal in public restaurants with a' maximum >of three courses per meal and the-prohibition of fish, game, anci poultry on certain days of the week, are the main provisions of an order, to become operative on June 1. This was announced by the Minister for Food, Lord Woolton, in the House of Lords. The consumption of food in catering establishments, said Lord Woolton. will be prohibited between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. 'in the provinces, and oetween midnight and 5 a.m. in the metropolitan police area, except for hotel residents and catering establishments licensed for service to night workers and travellers.
