SUNDAY PERFORMANCES

THE SYDNEY EXPERIMENT

AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS SYDNEY, May 11. The experiment of Sunday night entertainments for troops on leave, which was tried out last night in Sydney, proved an unqualified success. The State Kinema Theatre, with a seating accommodaiton for 2500, was filled to overflowing, in spite of the fact that the particular picture shown had hitherto been seen by Americans. The vaudeville entertainment at the Tivoli Theatre, which was comfortably filled, was shorn of risque items. It went with a swing, and filled the breach admirably. Men and young women from all the services displayed the best behaviour at both shows, and there was ample evidence that the innovation will become most popular, necessitating an extension of Sunday entertainments.
