GIFT PARCELS
PREPARATION OF CONSIGNMENT The packing of a further consignment of Otago's quota of 4480 gift parcels has been commenced by voluntary workers in the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council's workroom in Dowling street The parcels include a fruit cake, a tin of fruit, a tin of condensed milk, a tin of barley sugar, a cake of soap, a refill of shaving soap, a tin of meat paste, a khaki handkerchief, a tin of liver and bacon, chewing gum, a soap bag or a skull cap. and a card expressing the best wishes of the people of Otagp. In cases in which people have contributed the cost of one or more parcels and have expressed a desire to send a personal message of greeting, such a message is also included. The approximate value of each parcel is 10s, The wrapping is being carried out by a band of volunteer women workers, and volunteer male workers are assisting in the packing, casing, branding and stacking of the parcels in readiness for despatch. The services of a few’ more men able to do the heavier work of lifting and stacking would be welcomed by the Patriotic Council.
