OAMARU SHOW
ABANDONED THIS YEAR Because of the existing war conditions, and a possibility of a military camp being established at Oamaru, the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association, at a committee meeting following the annual meeting yesterday, decided on the motion of Mr A. McDonald, not to proceed with arrangements for the annual show this year. In view of possible future dealings with the army, Mr C. H. Smith moved that an emergency committee be formed to deal with any difficulties that might arise. Tire motion was -carried, and the following committee was set up:—The president (Mr A. H. Copland), Messrs J. Tisdall, R. B. Meek, W. McDonald, E. S. Brewster, W. Dolg, and C. H. Smith. This committee will also do the work of a grounds committee. A new finance committee was appointed. consisting of Messrs A, H. Copland, W. R. Macaulay, E. S. Brewster, D. Malcolm. J. Tisdall, C. H. Smith, R. B. Meek, W. Doig. N. C. Gilchrist, W. T. Hamilton, and W. Macdonald. In regard to Mr Woodward’s position as secretary, it was decided that he should carry on till the position was more definite, and that the Finance Committee should about July make a recommendation to the General Committee.
