STEADY INCREASE WASHINGTON, May 7. The United States birth rate, which has been climbing steadily, showed another big increase in the first three months of 1942; The Census Bureau said that there were 9.3 per cent, more births this quarter than for the corresponding period last year, bringing the rate to 19.5 per 1000.
