HOME GUARD NOTES

MOSGIEL AND DISTRICT COMPANY Officers and n.c.o.'s of both the Outtram and Mosgiel Companies of the Home Guard were keenly interested in the machine-gun work which was demonstrated at last week’s class by Lieutenant Simpson and n.c.o.’s from the L.A.F.V. Regiment. Good progress was made witn positions by the week-end working party, and Warrant Officer Waite and his assistants adequately attended to the meals. Stands have been made for bayonet practice and these will be used when completed. Signallers were fortunate in having Lieutenant Bremner (a Mosgiel old boy), of the L.A.F.V., who gave a demonstration on radio-telephony. A working party of 35 men is required for to-mor-row morning at 8.45, when Divine service by the Rev. Mr Findlay will precede the day’s work. Eating utensils for a hot meal should be brought.
