CROQUET PLAYERS

The members of the St. Clair Croquet Club and the honorary members were guests of the president, Mrs Baker, on the occasion of the closing of the lawns on Tuesday. After welcoming the guests and shortly reviewing the season’s activities the president presented the trophies as follows:—A Grade Championship Cup, Mrs J. J. Maloney: Fleming Trophy, Mrs M. Black: B Grade Championship Cup. Mrs A. J. McFaul; and a button to Mrs McKellar, the winner of the C Grade competition. Mrs Webster, senior vice-president, then presented Mrs Baker with a bouquet from the members, and Mrs Webster was asked by Mrs Newall to accept a spray from the members who had played in , interclub matches. In appreciation of the manner in which the captain, Mrs Newall, had carried out her duties, Mrs Maloney, on behalf of the members, presented her with a spray. The lucky cup prize was won by Mrs Oliphant, and Mrs Speight, on behalf of those present, thanked the president, Mrs Baker, for her hospitality. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of Leith Croquet Club, and the year ended very satisfactorily. The executive is as follows: —Miss Wilson, president; Mrs Forrester, captain; Miss Couchman, secretary: Mrs Hemsley, treasurer; Mrs L’Estrange, social convener; Miss Steven and Mrs Booth.
