UNDEFENDED DIVORCE CASES Undefended petitions for divorce were heard by Mr Justice Kennedy in the Supreme Court yesterday. Decrees nisi to be made or moved absolute after three months were granted as follows;—Grace Collins (Mr C. J. L. Eric Reid, separation agreement; Henry Thomas Trevenh (Mr B. S. Irwin) v. Eva Winifred Trevena (Mr G. T. Baylee)', desertion; James French (Mr C. J. L. White) v. Marion Alice May French (Mr J. B. Thomson), separation agreement: Mary (Christina Gensik (Mr O. G. Stevens) v'; John Franklin Godfrey Gensik (Mr;G. T,, Baylee), separation agreement. ,On the petition of Arthur Norman Prior-.(Mr.J. S. D. More), an order for the restitution of conjugal rights within 14 day's was made against Clare Prior. 1 : i ’£• 1 Decrees absolute were granted on the petitions of George Mearns (Mr J. M. Paterson) v, Elizabeth A. Mearns (Mr G. ; T. Baylee), and of Harold Yates McMaster (Mr ,T. O’Shea) -v. Ethel Winifred McMaster (Mr B. S. Irwin). Discharge from Bankruptcy An application for discharge from bankruptcy by Peter Eric Laughton, a farmer, of Owaka, was granted. , On the application of the official as- : slgnee, orders were granted for the re- ! lease from bankruptcy of Harold Stevenson Densem, a bus driver, of Oamaru; Gilbert Dillon, a labourer, of Totara; William Stevenson, a builder, of Oamaru: and Kevin Thomas lan Gdanitz, a confectioner, of Oamafu. L ipt'! -FU»«d;for Common Assault. i A fine' ! o£' £s;vwith Imprisonment up to ;14 days until the fine is paid, ; was the penalty imposed upon Charles Horace .Albert Slack, aged 37;.a member of the armed forces, when-dio appeared before his Honor for sentence on a charge of common assault. Slack was represented by Mr C. J. L. White. His Honor said that, In deciding upon the penalty, he had taken into account the ■ jury’s, recommendation that the prisoner should be treated with all possible leniency, a favourable report by the probation officer, and the fact , that Slack was serving his country as a member of the armed forces.
