GOVERNMENT CRITICISED (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, May 7.

Critical reference to what he described as the “ Government’s feeble land policy ’’ was made in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr A. S. Sutherland (Opposition, Hanraki), who said that the future of the Dominion was wrapped up in a progressive land policy. The Minister of Lands, Mr F. Langstone, was not a farmer, and was not qualified for the job. The Minister of Supply, Mr D. G. Sullivan: Is it a fair thing to attack a man when he is not here to reply? Mr Sutherland: The Minister of Lands is such a great tourist that to catch him in New Zealand is a difficult job. Mr Sutherland added that he- could assure the Government that the Crown tenants of New Zealand hoped that the Minister’s appointment in Canada would be a permanent one.
