GERMANS IN BRAZIL

RIO DE JANEIRO. (Rec. 7 p.m.) Feb. 8. The President of Brazil, Dr Getulio Vargas, has ordered the construction of air raid shelters throughout the country and also the training of the civilian population in precautionary measures in the event of air attacks. Meanwhile, the Minister for War, General Enrico Dutra, has retained all the conscripts of the 1941 class after the expiration of their terms of service in the Rio Grande do Sul region. This action was taken because of the large concentration of Germans in that region who have received military training and are taking orders from the German Consul.
