CRITICISM OF BRITAIN
AUSTRALIAN ATTITUDE DEPLORED (P.A.) GISBORNE, Feb, 9. Among a number of messages congratulating him on his cablegram to Mr Winston Churqhill expressing admiration for his inspiring leadership and confidence in his ability to lead the Empire to victory,, the Mayor, Mr N. H. Bull, has received one from an Australian resident, who deplores the attitude of Australians towards Great Britain.
"There is too much unfavourable criticism of Britain in this country, and a section of people, including members of the present Government, appear hostile to everything English," states the writer, who refers to the many industrial disputes. and says that thousands of able--bodied young men are to be seen at race meetings. “ Yet Australia' criticises the conduct of the war by Britain, where man-power has been conscripted and the people suffer many hardships.”' r
