ATTEMPT ON MALTA AXIS PREPARATIONS (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON,. Feb. 7. < Preparations are still being made for an invasion of Malta, says trie Madrid correspondent of the Daily Mail. Fresh air squadrons are continually reaching the air fields m Sicily. Four thousand Axis planes are now ready for Mediterranean operations, and German naval men have prepared invasion bases. , The Malta correspondent of the British United Press says that kinemas, schools and churches were .damaged and a number of persons,killed in daylight raids on Malta yesterday. The Maltese are appealing for reprisals.
