TO THE EDITOR Sir,—On the bus last evening two obviously well-fed gentlemen were discussing the appeal for binoculars. One said he would not mind selling his if the valuation was right, but the other was non-committal, and so they chatted on as if the matter did not concern them at all. How on earth. Sir, can we ever hope to win this war when we have so much selfishness in our midst? I thought of my own three brave lads overseas, two of whom are missing, and wondered if their sacrifice was worth while. I hope that, if ever we are in chains, (which God forbid!)
