A message from Susanville (California) states that Sheriff Olin Johnson said Clarence Alexander, aged 24, of Cleo Springs, California, had confessed "in detail" to wrecking the streamline train "City of San Francisco," which had caused the death of 24 persons on August 12, 1939. Turkish Ship Torpedoed.— A message from Ankara says that the 600ton Turkish ship Yenidje, sunk between Burgas and Istanbul, is reported to have been torpedoed.
