'The Malvern Collie ; Club wrote requesting a ruling whether a dog trial held by a ploughing match.. association would be counted as such, or would it be ruled as a competition.-r The secretary s reply that it would be a'.trial, and would have to be held under the rules of the association, was confirmed. Accounts amounting to £55 la no were passed for payment. The North Island Association wrote requesting that the South Island Association should bear a proportion of the cost of printing draft copies of the Suggested rules.—lt was - decided to contribute £2 towards the cost. v The chairman and secretary were authorised to procure a supply of certificates to be awarded the six placed dogs in each class of the championships. Stud Book The Stud Book Association wrote requesting that all dogs entered for the North Island, South Island, and New Zealand Championships should be rtgisterea in the Stud Bood, an extra fee of 2s 6d to be charged and paid to the Stud Book Association for the purpose of financing a regular publication of the Stud Book.— There was considerable discussion on •the subject, the opinion being expressed that dogs entered for the championships should be entered in the Stud Book. It was also pointed out that shepherds and musterers who entered dogs in championships did not know the pedigrees of their dogs, and the extra charge of* 2s 6d each year would prevent them from competing. The meeting did not favour the extra fee of 2s 6d. Finally it' was unanimously decided that all dogs entering for the South Island Championships must be entered in the Stud Book, provided the North Island Association followed the same procedure. South Island Championships The Ellesmere Club was appointed to make the arrangements for the 1942 South Island Championships at Tai Tapu. commencing on Monday, June 15, at 8 a.m.i or earlier on succeeding days if necessary. The entry fee was fixed at £1 Os 6d. The classes were fixed as Long Pull, Yarding, and Huntaway, the points being as follows:—Long Pull—Head 44, pull 44, hold in ring 12—total, 100; Yarding—Head 36, pull 36, work at yard 20, yard B—total, 100; Huntaway—First pole's 33, second 33, third 34—total, 100. There was also considerable discussion on the distances and poles in the huntaway, and finally the meeting decided by six votes to four that the present system of two poles be retained, the first set to be two chains apart and a reasonable distance from the pen, and the second and third sets to be not less than one chain apart, this to apply to championships and all club trials. The prize money was fixed at £ls for first, £lO second, £5 third, £3 fourth, £2 fifth, £1 sixth. Mr J. A. Nelson (Winton) was appointed huntaway judge, and Mr M. A. Matheson (Middlemarch) heading judge. It was decided that all clubs be advised that the points adopted should apply to all South Island trials, the time for any standard event to be not less than 10 minutes. A vote of thanks was passed to the chairman (Mr Matson) for his good services to the association during the year. It was decided that the proposed alterations to the rules be held over until after the war. Otago Provincial Championships' Mr M. S.
