Stevens appeared, pleaded guilty (o the theft of the petrol.—When interviewed by the police. Detective Sergeant Hall said, the accused admitted having siphoned the petrol from the truck at the request of a man whom he had met in an hotel, and whom he did not know.—Mr Stevens said that the accused was under the influence of liquor when he took the petrol. Had he been sober the offence would not have been committed.—A sentence of 10 days’ imprisonment was imposed.
