Thursday, September 18 (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) A Vouth in Trouble A youth, aged 17 years, whose name was suppressed, and who was represented by Mr O. G Stevens, pleaded guilty to four charges of breaking and entering.—Detective Sergeant Hall said that the accused wa: obviously of weak mentality. He had entered a house in Carroll street and had then visited three dwellings in the vicinitv of Tennyson street, from which he had removed articles of female apparel.— The case was adjourned for a week, the accused to undergo a medical examination in the meantime Thcf< of Petrol Stated by the prosecution to have taken five gallons of petrol from a motor truck which had been left in an open garage at Normanby, Alfred James Rodgers, for whom Mr O, G. Stevens appeared, pleaded guilty (o the theft of the petrol.—When interviewed by the police. Detective Sergeant Hall said, the accused admitted having siphoned the petrol from the truck at the request of a man whom he had met in an hotel, and whom he did not know.—Mr Stevens said that the accused was under the influence of liquor when he took the petrol. Had he been sober the offence would not have been committed.—A sentence of 10 days’ imprisonment was imposed.
