THE RAIDS ON HANOVER PROOF OF EFFECTIVENESS (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 16. Hamburg was the R.A.F.'s principal objective in north-west Germany last night. Its shipyards, factories, and railways were attacked for some hours by a powerful force of bombers, and many large fires were started. Other German ports, including Cuxhaven and Wilhelmshaven, were also bombed. The docks at Havre were heavily attacked by another force of bombers.
