CAIRO BOMBED

EARLY MORNING RAID A NUMBER OF CASUALTIES LONDON, Sept. 16'. A Cairo communique states that incendiaries and explosives were dropped in the Cairo area, killing 39 people and injuring 93. There was slight damage to property. The anti-aircraft defences were in action, and alerts were also sounded in several provinces. The raid took place early this morning. The newspapers give prominence to the Downing street warning of April 18, following the Cairo bombing. The Germans claim that the attack directly hit a British aerodrome and hangars, and that the barracks were hit. Bombs were previously dropped on Cairo, but inly in the suburbs and open country around the city. , The Daily Telegraph says if the bombings are proved to have been deliberate then the bombing' of Rome will undoubtedly begin in the next few days.
