TWO NAZI PLANES DESTROYED A New Zealand squadron leader in England, celebrating after a successful morning's work by his squadron, committed a small technical offence and found himself on the carpet. Soon afterward the squadron was told to stand by for possible further action, and the squadron leader begeed to be allowed to go with them. He was—and shot down two enemy aeroplanes, which was enough to wipe out his technical offence. This story of Squadron Leader R. M. Trousdale, D.F.C., of Auckland, has. been told by his group captain. "It was a rather hectic day for our fighters," he said. "My bovs went up and had a real set-to with the Huns when they tried to cross the coast. They brought down several enemy machines and came back in jubilant mood. Subsequently I felt obliged to put Squadron Leader Trousdale on the carpet. Then came a big attack. The boys were keen to get at the Hun again—nobody more so than Trousdale. I let him go. and I'm glad I did. He brought down two of the enemy himself, and the squadron accounted for six of them that night."
