THE CHANGING WORLD
TO THE EDITOB Sir,—Mr Brown writes despairingly of the world of to-day. and refers to it as broken earthenware. In so thinking he is not alone. We need abundance of faith to believe in a better world Henry Drummond once calculated that it would take 800 years for all the people of the earth to file past one man, look at him and pass on. His thought was connected with the desirability of folk who could easily believe in Christ if they were able'to see with the naked eye. Science and inventiveness now bring voices from all over the earth to our very firesides. Television may bring more, and so a Second Coming of Christ could bring change with startling rapidity. The upsurge has commenced, for Christianity and only Christianity can save man from his slavish imperfections. Sword to ploughshare, ploughshare to sword, must cease and will cease because the toilers of this earth cannot much longer endure the hellish politics which lead to it all. I make no claim to prophecy, but signs everywhere point to the beginning of a Christian era.—l am. etc., Harold Ranchman.
