THE CITY TRANSPORT SYSTEM
TO THE EDITOR Sir.—ln the two years I have spent in Dunedin there appears to have been continual dithering over trams versus buses. I fail to understand why a i solution of such a small: matter could not have been reached long ago. The facts known to me present little difficulty. The corporation needs rails. The most likely lines are, of course, those to Logan Park and Tahuna. The amount of track required should be known. If the lengths from both services are required, pull them up. But if they are not, why not detour the Logan Park line on to the Castle street line from Albany street? This would give the track from George street to Castle street. If more is needed, turn the remainder of the line, except the last few chains, into a single-line track. Such procedure should provide the required quantity. If it does not, then the entire line must come up, because buses can more readily run on this line than on the Tahuna line. I am now so annoyed that I merely read headings, so often have the accounts of discussions, etc.. appeared. —I am, etc.. Logic. September 16
