Clyde.—Mrs Cotter presided. Arrangements were made for the birthday party to be held in the Town Hall, Clyde, on September 19. Half the proceeds are to be devoted to patriotic funds. Mrs Annan gave a report on the provincial confei-ence.

Ratanui. —Mrs Brown presided. Roll call: ."A general knowledge question " and " Exchange of Plants." Competition: 8100m —Mrs Shaw, jun.. 1, Miss Falconer and Mrs Craigie 2. Fruit loaf—Mrs McTaggart and Mrs Craigie (equal). Glove making was demonstrated bv Mrs Craigie. Mrs Allan and Mrs Brown were hostesses. Middlemarch. —Mrs B. Thompson presided. The Gardening Circle contributed talks on the cultivation of flowers and vegetables. Mrs F. Howell spoke on pansies and Mrs', A. Robertson on Iceland poppies. Mrs Murdoch on parsnips, Mrs A. Carruthers on glr.dioli, and Miss Macaulay gave a short account of the flowers in the gardens and parks of England, with special reference to the Chelsea flower show. Floral competition—Miss Macaulay. Hostesses: Mesdames M. A. Matheson and McDonald and Miss Matheson. Glenorchy.—Mrs K. Scott presided. Ccmoetitions: General knowledgeMiss A. Scott; authors of well-known sayings—Miss D. Scott. Roll call: "Humorous story." £1 Is was given to the Leper Fund. Money was allocated for soldiers' parcels. Tarras.—A dance was held to celebrate the eighth birthday. The president, Mrs Elliott, and members welcomed Mrs Annan, provincial president, who made an inspiring speech before cutting the cake, which was sold in slices in aid of soldiers' parcels. Momona. —Mrs Costello presided. Roll call: "A bring and buy sale." Mrs Costello reported on the conference. Hostesses: Mrs Gamble and Mrs Gordon.
