Lady Hunt has returned to Invercargill from a visit to Dunedin. Mrs Robert Kennedy left on Tuesday morning on a visit to Wellington.

Mr and Mrs J. Sutherland Ross have returned from a short visit to Wanaka.

Miss Connie Taylor has returned to Dunedin from Auckland. Mrs G. R. Ritchie has returned from a visit to her daughter. Mrs D. A. Ritchie, of Hawke's Bay.

Sir Louis and Lady Barnett have relumed to Hampden after a short visit to Dunedin.

Mrs L. W. Garrard, of Blenheim, is paying a short visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Cameron, of Queen street. Mrs Leonard Keene. of Te Paki Station, North Auckland, is spending a holiday with Mrs C. Keene, of Caversham. An afternoon tea concert under the direction of Mrs John Hamer will be given at a " bring and buy" sale organised by the Townswomen's Guild on Saturday afternoon in the Y.W.C.A. hall. Proceeds are for the Navy League, and it is hoped that the function will be well patronised. W.W.S.A.

The following members of the Women's War Service Auxiliary will travel to Ranfurly on Saturday to be present at the inspection of the Maniototo branches of the W.W.S.A., which will be held in conjunction with the Home Guard manoeuvres and field exercises: Mesdames Mackie Begg, E. T. Seymour, and Douglas Paine, and Miss Hunter-Weston. Mrs R. S. Black and Mrs J. A. Sim will accompany Colonel Bruce Smith and Mrs Smith, who will travel to Ranfurly to-morrow.

Address by Miss Jacobs An interesting address was given to the members of the Otago Women's Club on Tuesday afternoon by Miss Viva Jacobs, who recounted her activities in London in connection with the Food Control Office in Kensington. A vivid description of life in London under war-time conditions was also given by Miss Jacobs, who urged her listeners to send gifts of foodstuffs to their friends in London. On behalf of the club members, Mrs Gerald Fitzgerald welcomed Miss Jacobs back, after six years abroad, and Mrs Wakefield Holmes expressed appreciation for the address. Coming-of-age Party A merrv party gathered at the Strand Salon to celebrate the coming-of-age of Irvine, only son of Mr and Mrs Cowie, of Musselburgh Rise The guests were received in the lounge by Mr and Mrs Cowie. the latter wearing a marocain frock in blue and gold. At supper time the toast of the principal guest was proposed by Mr W. F. Alexander, who presented him with "the key to the situation." An interlude during the evening was a humorous elocutionary item by Miss Margaret McLay. Dancing continued till an early hour in the morning. Among those present were Dr and Mrs Purves, Mr and Mrs W.
