WOMEN'S REPRESENTATIVE GAMES A and B Grade women's representative hockey teams played South Otago at Milton on Saturday, and the Otago All team met a Tuapeka eleven at Dunedin. The results were: — Otago AI 2, South Otago A 2. Otago AH 4, Tuapeka 2. Otago B 3, South Otago B 2. The Otago AI team was expected to make a better showing against South Otago, but the bumpy condition of the ground made the match a hard one. The chief fault lay in offside play on the part.of the Otago forwards, which caused an abrupt end to many attacks. It is possible that an appeal may be made against the decision on the ground that a penalty bully, given against B. Campbell for fending off the ball with her hand in the circle, was not played at the prescribed five yards from the goal line. Both sides over-ran the ball throughout the game, and two casualties were suffered by Otago. M. Nicholson, the clever Dunedin full-back, who was filling M. Fisher's centre-half position, received a knock which took her off the field for a time, and E. Symon, the King's full-back, received a knee injury in the second spell which ended the game for her. She was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital yesterday, and does not appear to be a " probable " for the team to play Wellington next Saturday. Otago's two goals were scored by H. Harlev and H. Robertson. The Otago All team was more than a match for Tuapeka. Benefiting by the experience gained in the recent match against Southland, the forwards combined to better effect . than the Tuapeka players. The game was not productive of bright hockey. S. Gray (2), C. Middleton, and D. Stinson scored for Otago, and M. Eaton and I. Graham scored for Tuapeka. WELLINGTON TOURISTS (P.A.)' CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 31. The Canterbury women's hockey team beat the Wellington touring team by 3 goals to 2 in an excellent display. Canterbury won because it was the better balanced side and had more speed, especially in the forwards. In the first half G. McKenzie and D. Mouat scored for Canterbury, and P. Batty for Wellington, and in the second spell M. McKenzie (Canterbury) and J. Brown (Wellington) scored. HANDICAP HOCKEY Only one match was played in the Otago Hockey Association's handicap competition. Albany defeating Technical Old Boys by 8 goals to 3. The handicap scores were: Albany 10, Technical Old Boys 6. University A defaulted to H.S. Old Boys, arid the University B-Training College match will be played later.
