JOBS IN AMERICA
The United States Bureau of Labour Statistics estimated recently that nearly 1.000,000 jobs would be provided by the expansion for defence of the aircraft and shipbuilding industries within two years. Basing its estimate on orders and the current rate of expansion, the bureau predicted that 550,000 men would be needed in ihe aeroplane manufacturing industry. Shipbuilding employirient "on Government vessels alone" would require 388.000 workers by November, 1942.
