ROOSEVELT RE-ELECTED SWEEPING COLLEGE VOTE A DEMOCRAT CONGRESS (By Wireless) ' LONDON, Nov. 6. (Received Nov. 7, at 1 a.m.) Although the final figures are incomplete, the latest returns indicate that the re-election of Mr Roosevelt is assured. Mr Willkie is stoutly refusing to accept defeat, although several of his prominent supporters-and two leading New York newspapers have conceded the President’s re-election. The latest returns show a lead of about 3,000,000 votes for Mr Roosevelt in the population votes ■s well as in the more important Electoral College vote. The provisional figures are: Mr ROOSEVELT ... .. • • 18,585,000 Mr Willkie ... .. .. •• •• 15.397,000 (Two-thirds of electorates) Mr Roosevelt has secured 436 electoral votes from 37 States, compared with 95 to Mr Willkie from 11 States. Mr Roosevelt carried his home State of New York, and the latest figures put him ahead of Mr Willkie in his rival’s home State of Indiana. . The control of both Houses of Congress by the Democrat Party , is assured. Democrat control of the Senate was assured early in the House of Representatives. The Democrats have won 193 out of

the 435 seats and the .Republicans 89. This leaves 153 still to be filled, the majority of which, it- is considered, will go to the Democrats. ' .
