WEDDINGS

Robins—McKenzie The marriage took place on October 26 at St. Mary’s Bascilica. Invercargill, between William Ernest, fourth son of Mr and Mrs H. Robins, of Queenstown, and Mary Catherine, second daughter of Mr and Mrs D. McKenzie, of Invercargill. The Rev. Father Sexton officiated and Miss Rose Shepherd presided at the organ. The bride looked charming in a twopiece gown of satin-striped French silk. The bodice featured a high neckline. over which was worn a string of pearls, and the very full skirt extended into a graceful train. Her veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms and her bouquet was composed of arum lilies and maidenhair fern. „ ■ The bride’s sister, Miss G. McKenzie, attended as bridesmaid in a pretty lilac georgette frock, the full skirt deepening in shade towards the hemline. She also wore a bolero of violet velvet, while a spray of anenomes held in place her head-dress of violet net. Tulips and anemones were carried- ■ , , , Mr J McKenzie attended as best man. m , Afterwards in the Tudor Lounge the guests were received by the bride’s mother, Mrs McKenzie, who wore a smart black tailored costume, a black model felt hat and a spray of lilac anemones. Assisting her was the: bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Robins. \yho was attired in a navy ensemble suit, navy straw hat and ,a spray of red anemones. The bride travelled in a navy frock, American model striped coat and navy straw hat. The future home of Mrs Robins will be at Queenstown. Amies—Gudsell A pretty choral wedding was solemnised on October 28, at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Oamaru, between Charles Franklyn Georgq, eldest son of Mrs Amies, of Torridge street, Oamaru, and: Rose Marie, youngest daughter of Mrs F. E. • Gudsell, of South Town Belt, Oamaru. The Ven. Archdeacon Russell officiated, assisted by tffe Rev. W C Stace, of Hampden. Mr F. C. Burrv presided at the organ. The church had been tastefully decorated with arum lilies, pink and blue lupine and Iceland poppies. The bride, who was given away by her brother. Mr C. Gudsell, of Timaru, made a pretty picture in a cream brocaded crepe borac frock, designed with a V neckline, closely fitting hip-line, and a scalloped train. She earned a bouquet of arum lilies, roses, abutilons and maidenhair fern, and her tulle veil was caught into a topknot with a snray of orange blossom. In attendance was Jeanetta. sister of the bridgeroom. She wore a pretty Victorian frock of powder-blue taffeta and a velvet bandeau of pink and blue flowers to match those in her bouquet. The. flower girl, Isobel May Rush (niece of the bride) wore a pale pink frilled frock and a hair-band of flowers. She too. carried pink and blue flowers. The best man was Mr L. Jones, of Otekaike. The church choir of which the bride was a member, formed a guard of honour outside the church door.

A reception was held at the Star and Garter Tea . Rooms, where 45 guests were present, among them being Mr and Mrs Fergerston. grandparents of the bridegroom. The bride’s mother received the guests. She wore a brown floral frock and an edge-to-edge figured brown coat ; with hat to tone, and she carried a posy of abutilons. Assisting her was the bridegroom’s mother, attired in a floral frock and smart navv coat and hat. and carrying a posv of roses and abutilons. For _ travelling the bride wore a pretty violet floral frock, navy edge-to-edge coat , and violet hat. The happy couple are touring in the North Island.
