An editorial in the journal of the New Zealand Educational Institute defending the employment of married women teachers, says: " The Educational Institute has always insisted that the only qualification for entry to the teaching services should be professional. Marriage, economic circumstances, or the ownership of a motor car should not come into the question at all; it should be confined entirely to the entrant's training and ability as a teacher. As the law now stands marriage is no bar to a woman continuing her service in the profession, and most people have accepted that position."
