Indians’ Gift to Franco A message from the Viceroy of India (Lord Linlithgow) ,to President he Brim states: “ With profound admiration for the glorious achievements of the armies of France, the Viceroy has the honour to contribute from his War Purposes Fund, raised by public subscription from the princes and people of India, the sum of 500,000 rupees for the benefit of the French Army, to be used in whatever manner your Excellency may think fit.”
