NAZI PROPAGANDA AN UNFOUNDED RUMOUR FRENCH PEACE MOVE (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, June 15. (Received June 16, at 9 p.m.) The British Broadcasting Corporation warned listeners that the Germans may be using French stations for broadcasts in English. The warning followed an alleged French broadcast, which stated that the French Government was considering the question of continuing the battle. A later message from London says that the rumour to the effect that the French are contemplating making a separate peace is authoritatively denied. It seems clear that the gtory emanated from the German radio without any. justification.
The German and Italian propaganda machines to-day have been more than usually active, circulating through their innumerable and devious channels a variety of rumours designed to shake the confidence of the Allied inoples. The main theme, of which there are many variations, is that disagreement exists between the British and French civil and military authorities. Stories to this effect have been reproduced in many languages from the German arTd Italian wireless stations. Allied IJuity In authoritative London quarters, attention is directed to the origin of these rumours, which are comnletely devoid of foundation. It was stated that the Allies continue, as hitherto in close co-operation and complete^agreement. The Bremen radio states that a proclamation was issued urging the people of Amiens to return to their homes. “ Germany will care for you and see that you have enough to. eat,” it says. “ This is the will of the Fuhrer.” French Cabinet at Bordeaux The French Cabinet deliberated for three hours and a-half at Bordeaux last night and examined in detail the military and diplomatic nosition. It is meeting again to-day. It is expected that military news will be scanty until the Government is settled in its new headquarters.
