Waipiata was to leave Auckland yesterday for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, and is due here next Thursday. PERSONAL The managers of the Orient Line announce the retirement of Captain F. R. O'Sullevan, who has held commands in their steamers since April, 1919. Captain O’Sullevan, whose early nautical training was gained on H.M.S. Conway, later served in tramp steamers, and entered the service of the Orient Line as fourth officer in the Ormuz in March, 1908. He served through the Great War in H.M.S. Otranto, which vessel was at the Battle of Coronel and later visited Sydney to refit. His first voyage to Australia after the war was in the Friedrichsruh. which brought troops back. The Orient liners under Captain O'Sullevan’s command were the Ormuz. Otranto. Orontes, and Orcadcs. His last visit to Australia in the last-mi*ntioned was in February, 1939.
