THE FIGHTING IN SILESIA
SNIPING BY CIVILIANS NEW YORK, Sept. 5. The special correspondent of the Associated Press of America with the German eastern army says: A general round-up of civilian males, old enough to bear arms,_ in the conquered sections of Silesia has been ordered because of persistent civilian sniping. A sudden burst of shooting from houses in Czestochowa killed a captain, several lieutenants, and a number of privates. Sniping was resumed this morning. Thirty persons were arrested.
